When is a Pig a Dog?

Surely such an absurd question couldn't have any relevance whatsoever to you, since you know pigs are not and cannot be dogs-right?

Wrong; the federal government's dealings with pigs and dogs directly correlates with its behavior of seemingly ignoring the Constitution, and is thus very relevant to you.

Very simply, a pig is a dog when some government agent with capacity to officially declare this says so; Vice-President Al Gore in this case.

The background to the story is that the Portland (Oregon) Police had a pot-bellied pig (Harley) which they wanted to train to sniff out drugs. Like any good local government in an era of pork-barrel politics, Portland wanted someone else to foot the bill.

Searching for funds, Portland Police could only find federal funds available for drug-sniffing dogs. Enter V-P Gore and his proclamation. Calling Harley a dog cleared the way for Portland Police to collect federal funds for this drug-sniffing "dog."

While it may seem like a few federal bucks in the hands of the Portland Police to fight the drug trade is almost insignificant, it is the principle which is of absolute importance, as you will see as you read on.

We all know in truth, that pigs cannot be dogs. We all know that calling something another name doesn't change its true nature, nor reality. A pig is still a pig even though it is called a dog.

The principle of utmost importance is that of giving limited legal definitions for political expediency.

Giving a word a specific legal definition in a document gives the bureaucrats a method to make end-runs around the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Since Congress can pass no law which contradicts the "supreme Law"-the Constitution-they must in some way deceive us when they pass laws which appear to supersede their powers.

Most people find it easier to believe that we essentially live under a fascist dictatorship which subverts the Constitution and ignores the Bill of Rights than that we have simply been deceived. There can be no law which subverts the supreme Law-the Constitution. Thus, any law which is in excess of the powers as authorized by the Constitution which has not been thrown out for being unconstitutional is simply using some form of deception.

Ignorance and fear are the tools of bullies and frauds. People fear the federal government because of their ignorance. Truth is the enemy of the oppressive state. Education as to the proper and lawful roles of the federal government is the answer to checking government growth and reclaiming a federal government bound by the Constitution.

In the movie classic "The Wizard of Oz", Dorothy and friends were awestruck by the magnified image bellowing thunderous, hot air in a forbidding, authoritative manner. They followed blindly the frivolous decrees which this image dictated to get what they desired. They didn't realize until the dog "Toto" pulled back the curtain to expose the meek little man that they were conned into thinking he was a wizard of unlimited powers solely by impressive buildings, a spectacular sound and light show, their wishful thinking and actual effort, and an intended victim to supply the necessary sacrifices.

Of course, our government doesn't rely on such obviously fictitious characters as evil witches to supply magic brooms; instead they rely on "evil" businessmen and the middle class and their assets for the legislators' wealth redistribution scheme.

The role of The Beacon of Liberty is that of the dog "Toto", that of pulling back the curtain to expose the deception.

Those people who would listen to the image of "the wizard", as he tells them to "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" would have little use for the information in this newsletter and it was not written for them. It has been written for those who are capable of independent action based upon rational thought and the legal principles upon which this country was founded.
